A Brief History About the Indian Tara Matka

Tara Matka is the main dish of the Morra Churna which is a vegetarian restaurant in Delhi. The name Morra Churna (churning pot) was given to this eatery because of the vegetarian dishes served which are mainly from the state of Rajasthan. The main vegetarian dish served here is Matka. It is also known as Tandoori Matka in Northern India and is the main dish of Mumbai. So, what exactly is Matka? Well, it is a non-vegetarian dish prepared using clarified butter, tandoori masala, spices and vegetables.

This dish has a very interesting history. Firstly, it was introduced by the British in the 19th century as a result of which the Indian people got used to it and started appreciating this new food.
